Please use these Discussion Questions as a way to survey your students’ strengths and weaknesses in the area of social-developmental education. That knowledge can guide your teaching when using CIRCLES Level 2.
When administered to students before the curriculum is introduced, the Discussion Questions will give you an idea of what the students already know. Repeating the questionnaire upon completion of the program will give you an idea of areas that need further concentration after the first go-round with CIRCLES Level 2.
The teacher’s copy of the Discussion Questions suggests guidelines for determining a correct or incorrect answer. The student copies (pre & post) are identical to each other but have no suggested answers. (Use these questionnaires as “masters” to be copied as often as necessary). The tests may be administered on a one-to-one written or verbal basis or may be administered as a group experience, depending upon the language and writing skills of your students.
Please do not regard this as a pass-or-fail situation. It is for the benefit of both the student and the teacher to be able to address unmet areas of knowledge and performance with understanding and support rather than with a grade.
Some students need more repetition than others and some students need more opportunity to practice these principles in “real life” situations before it really hits home. As “real life” interacts with “classroom life” the principles will be learned and used. This opportunity will create safer social experiences and offer a chance at a better quality of life for the program participants that we serve.
