Lesson 1: Specific Objectives

Students will:

  1. Model using imagery and The BeCool (Rational) Self-Talk Process to cope with examples of challenges to self-respect.
  2. Understand that when faced with challenges to self-respect, they have the power to decide how they will feel and how they will respond (see Teacher Note below for details).

Optional: (for students who are capable of understanding how beliefs can affect feelings

and behavior):

  1. Model using The BeCool (Rational) Self-Talk Process to cope with difficult people.
  2. Understand why the belief "It's more important to have other people's respect than to respect myself" is a "thinking error."
