Unit 10: Synthesis Activity

  1. Discuss the role of film and television critics with students. (It might be helpful to read one or two movie or TV reviews to the students.)
  2. Explain to students that they will assume the role of "People "
  3. Have students write reviews of themselves, assessing how they deal with others in social situations. Student self-reviews might include answers to these questions:
    • Am I loyal? honest? trustworthy?
    • Do I apologize when I ought to?
    • Do I exercise self-control?
    • Do I clear up misunderstandings?
    • Do l accept others' strengths and weaknesses?
  4. Have each student choose one person (this may be another classmate or someone outside the classroom) to whom he or she can present the review. Tell students they should choose a person they trust to give them valid comments on the self-review.
  5. Have students present the review to that person and ask for insights.
