Teacher Notes
Teaching Picture 20 continues to illustrate the second characteristic of trustworthy people: trustworthy people don't want to hurt you. They don't lie, cheat, try to trick you, hurt you, or try to take advantage of you. They "do the right thing." In this case the "right thing" was to "stand by a friend" and help him. Explain to students that doing the right thing is not always easy.
Discussion
The young man slips and falls. This causes others to begin to tease him. Each of his friends reacts differently. One joins in the teasing, the other helps him up. Which friend would you trust in the future? Trustworthy people don't hurt others, they don't lie, cheat, or take advantage of them. They won't try to hurt you. Like the young man who helped his friend when he fell instead of teasing him, they try to do the right thing.
