Accompanies Lesson: 1
Objectives
Students will:
- Identify the private parts of the body for males.
- Demonstrate comprehension of private by contrasting with public.
Teacher Notes
Explain that naked bodies are only shown in private places. Use of these pictures in class means that a private subject is being discussed. Review the ground rules. This lesson allows you to determine how much and what your students know about terminology relevant to personal safety. Accept slang, but begin to teach medical terms.
Teaching Questions
Personal safety means learning when it is okay to touch private parts of the body and when it is not appropriate. What are the more private parts of a man or boy's body? The buttocks, penis, and testicles (genitals) are shaded in this picture. These are private parts and they are usually covered up by underwear. We do not show private body parts or underwear in public.
LifeFacts Assessment
ASK: Are these males or females? Can you name some of the parts of their bodies? What are the private parts in the shaded area (point)?
