The Circles Curriculum

The aim of the CIRCLES® Curriculum is to present abstract and nuanced relational concepts in a concrete, easy-to-associate manner for the challenged learner. While the emphasis of the program is social distance and relationship building, it connects with several related issues including safety, sexuality, and personal growth.

This section is devoted to integrating specific, cognitive, and limited social-sexual education information into a relational context already established by the CIRCLES concept. Each module contains the following:

  • Notes to the teacher that highlight special context considerations.
  • Interpretation of the topic in terms of the CIRCLES concept.
  • Menu of support activities for that concept.

The material presented here is intended as a starting point for discussion of the way sexuality education topics can be integrated with the CIRCLES concept. Many of your students will require one-on-one counseling regarding these topics and/or individual consultation. Find out what resources or referrals are available to your school for more in-depth presentation.

Use this section to apply the CIRCLES paradigm to social circumstances and to individualize the experience of your students as appropriate.

Many of the support materials suggested in this section are available through the publisher. For more information see www.stanfield.com
