Lesson 9: Pubic Hair

Objectives:

Students will:

• understand that pubic hair growth is a normal change of puberty.

Vocabulary: pubic hair

Materials: Picture Card 13, worksheet #4

Procedure:

1. Read Picture Card 13 and go over discussion questions.
2. Give students worksheet #4. Have students draw in all the places a girl develops hair growth during puberty. (pubic area, underarm areas, and thicker hair on legs and arms)
3. Review - Ask students to identify which hair women sometimes decide to shave (leg and underarm). Emphasize that teens should not shave pubic hair or hair on their arms.
