Materials: Boys' Picture Cards
Procedure:
- In order to promote healthy interpersonal relationships between male and female students it is extremely helpful to read the Boys' Picture Cards to the girls. Teachers should determine which (or whether all) of the Cards are appropriate, based on the developmental levels and emotional maturity of the students. Also, teachers need to decide in advance which discussion questions to use. There is no need to do the teaching activities designed for the boys. Be sure to leave the class open for questions. Students are generally full of myth information about the other sex.
- Have students sort the Boys' Picture Cards into two piles. One pile should represent changes that girls and boys experience and the other should be a pile of the changes that are different for boys. Have students discuss the large number of similarities as well as the differences.
