Materials: Picture Cards 18 and 19, worksheet #6, pencils, red crayons or markers
Procedure:
- Read Picture Cards 18 and 19 and go over discussion questions.
- Give each student a copy of worksheet #6.
- Have each student use a pencil to draw a line showing how the egg travels from the ovary to the uterus.
- Have students use their red markers to color in the lining of the uterus to show how it fills with blood. (Make sure that they only color the gray area which shows the lining.)
- Next, have students make a dotted line with their red marker to show where the blood comes out of the uterus. (It should look like Picture Card 19 center picture.)
- Have students use their pencils to draw a line showing where the egg comes out (from the uterus down through the vagina) during a girl's period. Remind them that the egg is too small for a girl to see.
- Switch roles. For review have a student be the teacher and tell the other students everything they need to know. This can be done using Picture Cards 18 and 19.
While doing the worksheet review the terms uterus, eggs, ovaries and tubes and review important facts including one egg that comes out each month, the bleeding during a period lasts about 3 - 7 days and nights, etc.
