Lesson 2: Introduction

Teacher Note: At the beginning of each video, there appears a screen (see above) that identifies the Program Module and Lesson number for the program to follow. Also included is a brief description of the content or behaviors being taught. In this case, "Use the 4-Step Plan to Talk The Talk/Walk The Walk" is the "key action" being taught. You may use this information as an "Advanced Organizer" for yourself as well as your students.

Teacher Notes

In this program, we address a form of bullying known as sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is bullying someone verbally, physically or visually by making unwanted sexual comments, requests or advances. It is against the law if it continues beyond the initial warning and sexual harassment can happen to anyone. We illustrate the process of standing your ground with this type of bullying by using the "Talk The Talk (Ask to Stop) process. This program is unique, however, in that it also illustrates the "Walk The Walk" (Getting Help) process by threatening to go to an authority figure if all else fails. The purpose of this program is to clearly illustrate that it's okay to get help to defend against this type of bullying if nothing else works. In so doing, we hope to counter the notion that "tattling" or going to authority is something we should never do.

⚠️
Important Note: Because choosing to Talk The Talk" or "Walk The Waik" requires somewhat sophisticated judgment, it is not recommended for students with significant cognitive challenges. For this student, we recommend exclusively the "Leave and Get Help" process
