Lesson 2: Objectives

Students will:

  1. Identify negative consequences of HOT and COLD responses to hurtful teasing.
  2. Identify the LOOKING, THINKING AND ACTING elements of a COOL response to hurtful teasing
  3. Demonstrate understanding of why the COOL response of "Asking to Stop" using the 4-Step Assertion Plan can be an effective response to hurtful teasing.
  4. Identify the four steps of the 4-Step Assertion Plan.
  5. Identify benefits of using the BeCool response to hurtful teasing.
  6. Recall and model the three steps of the BeCool response to hurtful teasing: LOOK COOL, THINK COOL and ACT COOL using the "Ask to Stop/4-Step Assertion Plan" process.
  7. Identify additional courses of action that are available if the BeCool response doesn't work.

Optional Objectives:

  1. Recognize the perceptual-cognitive styles of HOT, COLD and COOL responses to hurtful teasing.
  2. Identify the LOOKING, THINKING AND ACTING elements of HOT and COLD response to hurtful teasing.
