Students will:
- Understand that how we think about a problem, our self-talk, influences our feelings and behavior.
- Understand why negative self-talk is "irrational" and promotes Losing It!
- Understand how The BeCool (Rational) Self-Talk Process™ promotes rational thinking, self-control and self-benefiting behavior.
- Recognize and identify the three major elements of negative (irrational) self-talk.
- Understand the advantages of imagining the worst-case consequences before deciding to Lose It!
- Recognize and identify the four major elements of The BeCool (Rational) Self-Talk Process.
- Understand how to use The BeCool Problem Scale™ to keep problems in proper perspective.
- Understand why name-calling, swearing, hateful and other "fighting" words are examples of self-talk that intensify the problem and should be avoided.
- Understand that they rather than other people and events control their feelings and the buttons that push them.
- Understand the advantages of taking responsibility for fixing the problem over blaming or getting even
- Define the statement "Don't turn a problem you can handle into one you can't."
