- One way to ACT COOL is to "Explain your Side," in your "important voice," especially when the anger is not true or unfair.
- By using your "important voice," the person will know you're serious, but not angry.
- When you "Explain Your Side," try to talk to the person in private, and:
- Tell them you want to work things out.
- Calmly tell them why the anger is unfair.
- Give ideas for improving/solving the problem (and the anger) so it won't happen again.
- Try not to let unfair anger make you feel bad.
- "Taking a break" gives everyone time to cool down.
Independent Viewing of Video

Parent Education/Involvement
Consider showing the "BeCool Teacher/Parent Introduction" video and discussing the BeCool strategy at parent meetings, open houses, PTA meetings, etc. You may also suggest that the students take the video home to teach their families the BeCool strategy.
