Lesson 2: Review

  • Anger is a feeling that shows disappointment, unhappiness, dislike, or disagreement with someone, or with things or situations. People even get angry at their cars if they don't start.
  • People sometimes act angry to get others to do what they want. Anger is fair when the problem behavior is true.
  • COLD and HOT responses usually make the problem worse.
  • BeCool, and you usually solve the problem.
  • The BeCool response to anger from others is:
  • Look Cool: Calm down before doing anything.

Think Cool: Use positive self-talk and making choices.

Act Cool: By choosing to "Accept," "Apologize," "Makeup."

  • Another BeCool response to anger when you are unsure whether it's an accident or not is "Checking It Out."

Independent Viewing of Video

Encourage students to view the video independently. Have students practice the calming techniques along with the characters in the video.

Parent Education/Involvement

Consider showing the "BeCool Teacher/Parent Introduction" video and discussing the BeCool strategy at parent meetings, open houses, PTA meetings, etc. You may also suggest that the students take the video home to teach their families the BeCool strategy.
