For students with mild challenges:
Group students in three's matching students with mild challenges with one student with moderate challenges. Suggest the students teach each other how to use the BeCool process. Point out that teaching will help them know what they know and what they don't know so they can get more coaching.
For students with moderate challenges:
Group the students in two's or three’s, asking a student with mild challenges to work with the student with moderate challenges. To act out the steps for Leave and Get Help.
Real-Life Assignment
- Ask the students to practice the BeCool steps by picturing ICE, calming down, THINKING COOL, and ACTING COOL If they are around someone angry who seems dangerous, who is yelling and threatening, especially if they have been drinking or are on drugs, leave. Get help if they need help. Suggest they teach this to a friend.
- Ask students to look for pictures at home in the newspaper and magazines that depict people in HOT, COLD, and COOL situations that have dangerous anger situations.
